To promote spiritual enrichment, to educate and to live as stewards of God, and to encourage parishioners to become better stewards by sharing their gifts of time, talent, and treasures.
There is a deep and rich history regarding the development of Catholic Christianity in Washburn, Wisconsin. The following information was obtained thru the Catholic Diocese of Superior, St. Louis church files, State of Wisconsin historical documents and the Washburn Public Library.
Ushers
Ushers welcome the parish community by being cordial and friendly. They arrive early, make sure the appearance of the church is clean and safe, welcome parishioners, help people find seats, and minister to those with special needs. The ushers distribute bulletins and make sure everything is in order before leaving. Men, women, youth, and families are welcome to be ushers.
Altar Severs
Boys and girls who have made their First Holy Communion may become altar servers. They are responsible for assisting the priest at Mass whenever scheduled. Servers are needed for weekend and Holy Day Masses.
Eucharistic Ministers
Eucharistic Ministers share the Lord's Body and Blood with the assembly.
Eucharistic Minister of the Sick
This is the group that currently handles the responsibility of bringing Holy Communion to people that are homebound or in the nursing home. Bringing the Eucharist to those who are unable to attend Mass is very rewarding and means a great deal to these people.
Lectors
Lectors who proclaim God's Word, are an important part of every Mass.
Lay Presiders of Prayer Services
The Lay Presider provides prayer service and Holy Communion in the absence of a priest. The presider is trained through the Diocese.
Sacristan
The Sacristan prepares the church for Mass and other services by putting out the chalice, preparing the bread and wine, turning on lights, and recruiting servers or ministers when necessary.
Musicians
In this ministry we worship God with music as a singer or musician to celebrate His goodness and love: the individual may participate in the seasonal and/or the regular Holy Mass choir.
Prayer Line
Prayers are offered for various needs of people. Individuals involved in this ministry are asked to offer in prayer the special intentions requested.
Decorating and Flowers
Volunteers help prepare the sanctuary for the different liturgical seasons, and prepare flowers and arrangements for the alter.
Religious Education Program
The Religious Education Program includes students in 1st grade through 12th grade. We have a variety of events and activities for our youth but this is primarily a program to help students understand the Catholic faith and their own personal faith journey. Sacraments are a big part of young people's faith formation and students are brought closer to the Lord through Reconciliation, the Eucharist, Confirmation and retreats geared toward families and community. Volunteers are vital to our program.
Knights of Columbus
The Knights of Columbus is a family based ministry focusing on Catholic men, 18 years or older, in good standing with the church. Its founding principles include charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism.
The Knights of Columbus also provide free Books, food & clothing in the “Little Pantry & Book Shelf” located in front of the Bell Tower adjacent to the church.

Food Collection
Occasionally St. Louis collects food baskets for the needy of our area. These baskets are then distributed by various agencies in the community. Non-perishable food items or money for the perishable foods are donated by the parishioners. Volunteers are also needed to assemble the food baskets.
Grounds Keeping
During the summer months volunteers are needed to maintain the grounds around the church and school building.
Snow Removal
Volunteers are needed to help plow snow out of the parking area of the church.
Buildings and Grounds
This committee oversees various building and maintenance projects that are necessary in the church and school buildings.
As a Catholic community, we are committed to the enhancement of the spiritual life and growth of our religion. Through prayer, penance and communal ministry, we strive to meet the needs of our faith community now and in the future.
